Arctic Husky Travellers is a small family company owned by Tommy Jordbrudal and his wife Janne E. Søreide, located 10 km outside Longyearbyen. We are passionate dog mushers with more than 25 years of experience with outdoor activities and dog mushing, living in Svalbard since 2007 with our two kids.
Together with our four-legged friends, we have criss-crossed large parts of the northern hemisphere. Tommy has run the world’s longest dog race Iditarod in Alaska and we both have completed Europe’s longest dog race Finnmarksløpet in Norway multiple times. Expeditions is what we like the most and there has been many great adventures even a few trips on the moving pack ice to the North Pole.
We offer day tours, overnight trips and longer expeditions. We have a strong focus on animal welfare and safety, and do an effort to make wise choices to reduce our environmental footprint to a minimum. Svalbard is one of the best protected wilderness area in the world, regulated under the strict Svalbard Environmental Protection Act.
Arctic Husky Travellers is member of “Visit Svalbard” the official tourism board for Svalbard and Longyearbyen. All members of Visit Svalbard have been quality assured by the Board of the Svalbard Tourism Council and are safe, responsible suppliers of products and services that are familiar with the local conditions. Visit Svalbard has achieved the prestigious “Sustainable destination label” in 2019, which was renewed again in 2022.
Besides tourism, we strongly engage in education. Tommy is part time teacher at Svalbard Folkehøyskole (Folk College) where he from August to May teach 2 days a week about dog care and dog mushing. Further, we engage in the local Arctic Nature Guide education by providing internships at our place where students get enrolled in everything from daily care of our huskies to help guiding the trips.
